Healthy Foods To Eat From The Bible Food Groups

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering about either of these questions, then let’s go to the Bible to find a healthy eating guide… one that you can believe in.

Bible Food Plate

I’m using a Bible Food Plate as a simple illustration of the different food groups that represent a healthy diet. By choosing to eat a variety of fresh, whole, foods from all the food groups… you will find that Biblical foods (all foods created by God) can be used as a healthy eating guide.

The food groups are described below with a simple tip and a scripture reference. Clicking each food group name will take you to it’s own page.


The Biblical Food Groups – Healthy Foods To Eat

Healthy Vegetables





Tip:  Eat lot’s of veggies, the greater the variety, the better… include many bright-colored vegetables especially, on your food plate.

Genesis 1:11 –  Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed

 Healthy Whole Grains

Tip:  Eat a good variety of whole grains… (like whole-wheat bread, whole-grain pasta, and brown rice). Limit refined grains… (like white rice and white bread).

Ezekiel 4:9 – But as for you, take wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet and spelt, put them in one vessel and make them into bread for yourself…


Healthy Fruits

Tip:  Eat plenty of fruits of all colors.

Genesis 1:29 – Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

Healthy Proteins

Choose more fish, poultry, beans, and nuts. Limit red meat and cheese. Avoid bacon, cold cuts, and other processed meats.

John 6:11 – Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were seated. He also distributed as much fish as they wanted.


Healthy Hydration

Tip:  Drink plenty of water daily – make sure the majority of your fluids are water.  Drink Tea with little or no sugar. Juice in moderation. Avoid high sugar drinks (like soda), they are not considered healthy hydration.

Isaiah 44:3 – For I will pour water on him that is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground…


Healthy Fats (oils)

Tip: Use healthy oils (like olive oil) for cooking,
on salads, and at the table. Keep butter limited. Avoid trans-fat.

Joel 2:19 – The LORD replied to them: “I am sending you grain, new wine and olive oil, enough to satisfy you fully…


Dairy (milk products & eggs)

Tip: For most people – Choose low-fat options whenever possible.

Dairy – is made up of all the milk products; liquid and foods made predominantly from milk.

Genesis 18:8 – Abraham took cheese and milk, as well as the meat, and set these in front of them. Then he stood by them under the tree as they ate.

Make Wise Food Choices –

If chosen wisely, our food choices can promote good health and therefore a better life.

Jesus came so that we could have life more abundantly… and all of our choices in life, including food, do matter!

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly”. John 10:10


Summary of The Bible’s Healthy Foods To Eat –

“Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant”.  Genesis 9:3

Good food choices can greatly benefit the everyday health of our lives! We also know they can help to reduce many health-related issues such as; obesity, diabetes, and heart problems, just to name a few.

When making your selections of healthy foods to eat on your food plate, pick a  variety from each food group… using a large variety of the biblical foods as a healthy eating guide.
